IP-ban for failed logins

I know the IP-ban time limit needs to be kept secret for security reasons. Is it worth putting this into a FAQ, explaining that it's for security reasons, as we keep getting the question in Support?

Also, would it be okay to specify an extreme upper limit, so people know? (i.e. I'm pretty sure the length of time is less than a week, so could that be specified even if giving the exact number of hours is a security risk?)

I'll need to do some research first to see if it's doable, but we should at least be able to put in a general FAQ about IP banning for failed password attempts.
