Cross-poster (again)

When using the cross-poster, if you select Disable comments on crossposts made to other sites on you accounts page a message "This entry was originally posted at http://xxxxx.dreamwidth.org/0000.html. Please comment there using OpenID.", clearly indicating it was cross-posted.

If you don't disable comments at the receiver end though there is no indication that it was cross-posted at all.

I'm not sure if this is a missing feature (_option_ to include "This entry was originally posted at http://xxxxx.dreamwidth.org/0000.html") or a needed clarification on the accounts page.

Personally I'd like the fact it was cross-posted to be automatically included, but I can see not everyone might.

Thoughts?

This isn't really a docs issues. You'd probably be better off taking it to dw_suggestions to make sure it gets seen by the right people.

I wondered about that before posting; the question in my mind though was it intentional or not as it a documentation issue at heart 9currently, anyway)

It's a bit of a hybrid, yes. It's not something that the docs team can handle though, since the code doesn't currently make allowances for different messages and making them optional and what have you. Which is why I suggested you take it elsewhere, so that coders could see it. Have you done so, or would you prefer that I migrate it over for you?

aih I hadn't yet (external reasons plus a bit of forgetting) but will write it up based on the comments above and do so this weekend (though you are, of course, welcome to do so yourself if you are happy to do so!)

Would prefer it if you could, since I have plenty to be doing anyway. Just wanted to check that I hadn't told you to go do something you weren't comfortable with or anything. Since it's a good suggestion, and it doesn't deserve to languish. :)
