This is the July thread for suggesting new FAQs, suggesting changes to existing FAQs, posting errors in existing FAQs, and for changes to/additions to/errors in site copy which is not FAQs.

Is an equivalent of http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=30 going to be written? It appears that this feature is available on DW, though some of LJ's other SMS features aren't. (And thank you for listing them on http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=131. That's such a useful summary.)

Capitalisation in the name of http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=175 doesn't appear to match the other FAQs. Ditto http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=152 and http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=173.

http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=120 could possibly do with breaking up into more readable chunks with sub-headings? It's a long list and it's only going to get longer.

http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=127 doesn't seem to match http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=86&q=import&lang= perfectly - there's extra information on the latter. Is it worth cross-linking or something?

Also, why did it add &lang= on the end when I used the FAQ search? Is that a bug?

On http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=130, is that known bug still true or has it been fixed?

http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=108 could do with some formatting.

FAQs on LJ we should have on DW, and other issues

I thought there was a FAQ on volunteering, but I can't see it in the list of all FAQs, and searching for "How can I help" produces no results. Where is it, or am I misremembering?

Incidentally, searching for "official communities" doesn't produce the FAQ on that. Is there any easy way to improve FAQ search or add keywords to FAQs? Searching for "accessibility" in the FAQs only produces the RSS FAQ.

Is there a FAQ which covers the fact that Dreamwidth isn't available in other languages, and why? Should it go in the list of things that LJ has and DW doesn't?

Also, that "What's missing" FAQ doesn't appear to include LJ Talk or LiveJournal Messenger, or the Schools Directory.

There doesn't appear to be a FAQ on the mobile interface. Should this be added? Is there a direct link to it anywhere, or how are people meant to discover it?

LJ also has http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=259 which is rather useful.

Is any of http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=159 relevant to DW? What about http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=74? Should that also be in the list of paid account benefits at http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=153?

Is http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=135 worth having on DW?

Should http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=24&q=memories include the fact that memories can't be imported?

On http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=153, should it be split into two FAQs, probably linking to each other but separate?

Also, "Ability to create polls" should now be split into "Ability to create polls in own journal" and "Ability to create polls in paid communities" or something like that, given the recent changes.

Should that FAQ also be split to show which features are relevant to journals, which to communities, and which are true for both? Though I guess the communities bit will look a bit bare at the moment.

Every time I created a poll in LJ, I had to go look up which was which between radio buttons and checkboxes. The only place I could find this info was in the write your own poll code bit. I never remembered, because I didn't do then that often.

If it's possible to put that detail in the FAQ for polls, that would be awesome.

http://dw-suggestions.dreamwidth.org/5648.html -- indicates that there's some confusion about linking to users on DW vs elsewhere. I'm not sure if this is necessarily a FAQ issue, but perhaps a general site copy issue?

Misleading site copy on lost password page

But, we no longer email passwords, thank goodness! We should have some better site copy describing what is actually happening.

The link shouldn't include spaces aroud view it, and there shouldn't be a space between view it and the period!

Viewing entries by security

There's a feature where you can click on the custom group name and view all entries that are locked to that custom group. Could that be documented, please, or is it already somewhere I haven't seen? Apparently you can also type in a similar search for all public entries, or all access-locked entries. Also, I read somewhere that it's a paid user feature, in which case, should it go in the paid accounts FAQ as a paid feature?
